Sweet ReTreat

How's your summer going? Mine was quite busy until last weekend. The Korean Voices in Fiber exhibition is in its second round at the Sebastopol Center for Arts gallery III ( July 28-September 3). Another exhibition at the Sebarts is going on and you don't want to miss it! FIBER ART VIII International Biennial Fiber Arts Exhibition shows many interesting fiber artworks, too.
After I helped hang our exhibition, I took a 3 day workshop organized by Slow Fiber Studio in Berkeley. 'Black, White, & Infinity: Sumi Ink, Silk, and Felt'. Using materials that I am not familiar with was difficult but I learned a lot and really enjoyed the whole process. My teacher Jorie Johnson who has been living in Kyoto for 27 years shared her techniques, knowledge and love of fiber with students. Nothing can be better than breathing creative energy!
Currently I am taking another workshop with Karen Hapmton - 'The Mindful Stitch - Storytelling with Textiles'. And I refill my creative energy from this wonderful artist and teacher.
I hope you all have a wonderful and creative summer!

Our Korea Textile Tour is scheduled during October 16-26, 2017. This is a chance to taste of Korean art, craft, foods and rich culture in the heart of Seoul. The tour is currently full but send me an email if you want to participate in 2018 or near future.
