Happy Spring!

 Playful spring projects

March went by so quickly, but I feel relaxed now. I started the month off by meeting so many wonderful people at a workshop, participated in the Voices In Cloth 2018 quilt show organized by East Bay Heritage Quilters, and finished out the month by spending 6 days in beautiful Asilomar.
VIC graciously allowed me to give a Bojagi demonstration during the quilt show, and I enjoyed meeting people and talking about bojagi and Korean textile art. Then I packed up and drove down to Asilomar.
I was at the Empty Spools Seminars as an artist in residence, and it was a great experience! I was happy to share bojagi with so many quilt enthusiasts and they were very sweet, visiting my table and encouraging me. Thank you!
Now I am looking forward to meeting the Valley Stitchers in a couple of days.

Hope everybody enjoys the warm and beautiful new season!

 Happy New Year, again!

Celebrating Lunar New Year makes me feel that I get extra time as a bonus. Koreans celebrate Seollal, Lunar New Year by preparing special foods to remember and honor ancestors, visiting family and wish good fortune for the New Year.
I had a great time making bok jumeoni with Oakland Museum visitors. I always wanted to go participate Vietnamese spring roll table but this year again, I didn't have time to visit them. I will try next year! Tibetan prayer flag making table and Chinese Calligraphy table were busy with many people as well as Japanese handmade doll table. The festive day started with lion dance and ended with dragon dance. I wish you a happy and prosperous new year.

Did you enjoy following the winter Olympic games in Pyeong chang last month? I stayed up late to watch games that I like and enjoyed seeing landscapes.

Guinness World Records!

It took a village

to create this community bojagi in LACMA in 2014.
During 4 months, over 1700 museum visitors participated in this project. I got a news from Karen in LACMA that this bojagi is the largest bojagi ever recorded! If you want to see this beautiful bojagi, please visit LACMA's Boone Children's Gallery. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this project!

January has been wonderful! I started many new classes and workshops, from 3rd graders up to grown ups. I feel very fortunate to share what I love with many people.

On Feb. 25, please visit the Oakland museum to celebrate the Lunar New Year. I will be there to make jumeoni (pouches) to catch and hold happiness and good fortune!
