It's been a few weeks since I returned home, and I have been slowly getting back to my daily routine. This time, I am very slow and struggling to adjust. I don't know whether it's because I'm overworked or getting tired faster than before. The tasks that I put aside and the ones with due dates also made me feel a bit uncomfortable. 'Am I getting old? Am I getting tired of work I used to love?' These strange but not uncommon thoughts were bothering me for a few weeks.
Last week, I had a chance to visit the studio of an artist studio I greatly admire. Seeing her recent work and engaging in the conversation motivated me and I felt a small but positive energy tapping on my shoulder.
Yesterday, I had a chance to give a talk at the American Sewing Guild Conference about my creative process and my journey to find happiness. Two other presenters, who were in their late 70s and 80s, also spoke at the conference. While listening to their talks, I was moved by their passion and willingness to embrace changes and opportunities. And I thought about my mom, who still paints every day. Now I feel better and ready to tackle more tasks with positive energy.
