Why

Youngmin firmly believes in the power of hand sewing and stitching to connect creative minds through culture and tradition. She founded the Korea Textile Tour in 2017 to introduce Korean traditional textile art and culture to bridge broader audiences.

Youngmin thoughtfully curates each tour-selecting the places and the people to meet-so that, through her lens, participants can explore Korea’s rich cultural heritage and textile traditions.

Who
Is this the right tour for you?

If you enjoy small-group touring along with free time to explore Seoul or surrounding cities at your own pace-together with likeminded women, who love textiles- this may be an ideal tour for you.

If you hesitate to step outside your comfort zone and be in unfamiliar surroundings, and if you prefer to be led everywhere in a large bus, with every minute planned out, this is NOT the tour for you.

To ensure your comfort and avoid hindering the group’s activities, please be realistic about your physical abilities. You should be able to walk unassisted, cover over 10,000 steps a day, and manage stairs for several hours while moving through the city, museums, galleries, and other places. A reasonable level of fitness is essential, as we will be walking every day, often in combination with public transportation.  Because we frequently use subways and buses, you must be able to go up and down for stairs and navigate platforms without difficulty.

Sometimes, we will remove our shoes and sit on the floor when visiting certain places.

In Korean, meals are typically eaten with long, pointed metal chopsticks and a spoon. If you’re not used to using chopsticks, it would be helpful to practice ahead of time.

Korean cuisine offers many wonderful options; however, if you have dietary restrictions, food allergies, a low tolerance for the unfamiliar foods, this may not be the ideal trip for you. While we do our best to accommodate preferences, we cannot guarantee every request, and we may not be able to accept guests with strict food allergies or dietary limitations.

For the tour to run smoothly, participants must be flexible, punctual, and respectful of others. No divas, please!
