Double happiness with oQamoQa project is showing in Bukchon, Seoul, Korea.  June 1st-13th, 10am -6pm.
The #doublehappinesswithoqamoqa project is an exhibit now! The exhibit is at 북촌 한옥청 in Bukcheon, Seoul, South Korea, from June 1 to June 13, 2021. There will be artwork by 9 artists from 5 countries, and oQamoQa products, stuffed animals, and more! There are also interesting workshops planned during the exhibit time. I am sad that I cannot go, but my bojagi appearing in the exhibit is a part of me. So I am happy that at least a part of me can go! Here's an opening day video by Seong ok Ha, oQamoQa's founder.

단오, DanO, means the first 5th day, and it is the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. Traditionally, Koreans celebrated this day by doing ancestral rituals to wish for a good harvest, washing their hair with sweet flag-infused water, eating mugwort rice cakes, and exchanging fans.
I am honored to participate in the Gateway Korea Foundation's annual Dano celebration this year.
I will demonstrate how to make Bok-jumeoni, and participate in a panel discussion about 'similarities and differences between Korean and African-American textile art' with Lee Talbot and Edna Patterson-Petty. These are free, online events that you can register for here.

Korea Textile Tour will be happening in 2022!
I am checking Korea's travel restrictions frequently. Still, all visitors to Korea are subject to a 14-day mandatory quarantine. So I am planning to have tours in May 2022 and October 2022. My 2019 participants will have a priority to travel for the 2022 tours, and later this year I will open the registration to wait-list.
There is a wait-list available, so please let me know if you are interested in future tours. If you are already on the wait-list, you will get an email when I resume the tour!
