Happy May!
Double happiness with oQamoQa project, Abundance of happiness is flying to Seoul, Korea for exhibition in June.
May has started with optimism! I finally am fully vaccinated and can't wait to move a step closer to the post-COVIC-19 time, and get back to our normal lives.

I sent 5 #doublehappinesswithoqamoqa projects and 3 of my bojagi work to Seoul last week. I am fortunate to be a part of this project! The exhibit will be at 북촌 한옥청 in Bukcheon, Seoul, South Korea, from June 1 to June 13, 2021. There will be artworks by 9 artists from 5 countries, and oQamoQa products. There are also interesting workshops planned during the exhibit time. I am sad that I couldn't go, but my bojagi will be there as a part of me.

As I mentioned last month, I participated in Alex Anderson's program The Quilt Show. Alex Anderson and her crew were very professional and supportive.

Things Korean this month is 다듬잇돌, Dadeumitdol
Dadeumitdol is a stone to beat cloth, to press out wrinkles, and soften the fabric. Two women sit across and beat on the cloth to smooth the wrinkles and soften its texture. 다듬이 방망이, Dadeumibangmangi (a pair of wooden bats) and 홍두깨, Hongdukkae (wooden rolling pin) were used to the pounding and smoothing. I've been eyeing my mother's dadeumitdol that she inherited from my grandmother since I was very young. She always teased me having an interest in old things. Maybe even then, I already knew that I would work with fabrics for my entire life.

Here's a Youtube link that you can see and hear the sound.
